AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 to May 7 10th, 2010) was an American actress as well as a dancer and singer who made appearances in films throughout the 1940s, 1950s as well as on television during the 1950s, 1960s, and later. Adele St. Mara became her name professionally and she was offered a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation neededThe company required citations. Also, she gained experience with the studio's comedy shorts and B-films. This title was quickly changed to Adele Mara. Mara was a receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she plays the main female role as the daughter of an escaped and wrongfully found guilty convict. After her Columbia contract expired after which she joined Republic Pictures where she was a regular in outdoor adventures and westerns. [citation required] She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angels in Exile (leading ladies), Sands of Iwo Jima (John Wayne's love partner), California Passage (leading ladies) and Don Siegel's Count the Hours(supporting role).
