The 21st of March, 2012 Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat made it clear at a press conference that Coleman will as the Doctor's companion along with Matt Smith after Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill have left the show. Moffat said that he chose Coleman for the role of companion because she would work best with Smith. Additionally, Moffat noted that she spoke faster than Smith. Eva is best known for her work on the show Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children as well as detective Natalia Boa Vistas from CSI Miami. Actually, her role as Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children garnered its the two Daytime Emmy nominations. This gave her an opportunity to showcase her music creativity. Eva is a businesswoman, and also an actress. Three times married, she has a daughter who is with her second husband.
